February is not just the start of a new month in the annual calendar but also the start of Race Equality Week. Newham African and Caribbean Network support the efforts made by Race Equality Matters, organisations, and individuals who want to make UK society, businesses, and services more equal, with tangible solutions that can make a permanent change.
Since the the global protest following the murder of George Floyd last year race and equality are now on the agenda for many sectors and industries. In the UK the public sector has been the leader for advancing race equality, but more needs to be done. If we are to make real progress the private sector and all businesses will have to be involved to make not just Britain's work places but wider society fairer, more equal and less racist.
