Welcome to NewhamACN's website

Updated: Jan 17, 2021

Welcome to Newham African and Caribbean Network's (NewhamACN) newly launched website! I'm pleased we have taken this step to reach out to a wider audience and grow our community; as well as share information, build partnerships, contacts and gain allies.

Newham African and Caribbean Network was launched in 2017 as a Facebook group to bring people from the African and Caribbean communities living in Newham together to share the issues that concerned us, provide support and solution. We also found that positive stories and information garnered as much attention, so this was encouraged.

NewhamACN was formed because of the lack of representation there was in the borough when it came to council led events around Black History Month and the representation of black communities in public office and positions of power.

NewhamACN is a campaign movement but we are also a community of like minded people who want to see greater diversity that better reflects the experiences and lives of the black African and Caribbean communities not only living in Newham but black communities elsewhere in the UK or further afield.

We are still growing as a movement and we welcome your support and ideas. If you would like to work with us or help us reach more people then feel free to get in touch. We are an inclusive movement and believe equality is achieved when we all work together.
